Compare Student Loans – 4 Year College versus Community College

California has a new initiative to beef up to the capabilities of the community college program. I did my higher education in this program and wanted my 2 cents to add to the discussion by comparing student loans. The California program covers large geographic areas and offer a great education to tens of thousands of students. Many of these college students who would otherwise not have access to higher education.

That said, let us compare the financial benefits of a junior college is like the Anza, Foothill, West Valley JC, and after a four-year school like UCLA, UCI, or SJSU. Can we help to pay for college? I will mainly be limited to costs I mention teaching. A student at the college a community can expect only so much pizza to eat as a at a university. Living costs will run about the same in the two types of schools.

The universities have a higher cost. You will receive a larger pay tuition to go to UC Berkely or SJSU than if you’re a junior college to attend. Over four semesters, you will spend approximately $ 4,000 more than at SJSU at De Anza or Foothill, for example. The difference is in the cost per credit hour at community colleges, only $ 13. At SJSU, more than $ 150. When you compare students to get loans through the school, you will borrow less for the classes at the lower cost per credit, of course.

I am for classes in both settings, community college and university is a state. I can tell you about the classes will be comparable, especially in the first two years of study. If you look at the class size and the attention of the teacher, you may have a better experience at the community college. In comparing student loans, your money, they can even buy a better education, and a similar one definitiely.

The funny thing is, when you graduate with a four-grade, you get a diploma. It will tell you the degree of SJSU, UCSD, UCLA or another. It will not say you spent 2 years at DeAnza or Foothill. The state program provides a credit transfer system. You will have the $ 4,000 less in debt or more in savings, and the grade is not changed. If you need to keep trying it. Your student loan will continue.

And if you have a say in the support of the California Community College program, you can do it. Remote areas, such as Ridge, for example, can benefit from serious a boost to Cerro Coso Community College
