Choosing the Right College During a College Search

Before you can get into a top college or a college, for that matter, you must decide where you want to apply. Choosing the right school is not easy. Choosing the right school for your college search is the biggest decision you and your parents to make together.

There are some important factors for you and your parents to consider when doing a school search. If you apply what influences you, and you can go to college a big impact on your career and future in general. One of the key things to consider when you choose the right school for your college search: How is the Campus-Community Relations?

Campus-Community Relations finished so much more of a big deal for me than I initially realized. When I say campus-community relations, I mean how the students and students in the surrounding community to respond and interact with each other, and the overall feeling or atmosphere between the two peoples.

I grew up in a college “town”, in fact, mid-size city, Berkeley, California, where Berkeley is located UC. I would say that virtually everyone who lives in Berkeley, I think 70-80% are either UC Berkeley students, alumni, teachers, staff, or the descendants of one of these groups. UC Berkeley is a public university with a population composed mainly of middle-class, California natives, similar to the Berkeley population. With that in mind, I was accustomed to experiencing good relations between the campus and the residents of the city.

I have the opposite experience when I was Yale, which has a rich private school is surrounded by a very impoverished community attended. There is a history of resentment by the Yalies and townies, and frankly many Yalies behave in a manner that warrants bitterness. Many Yalies were afraid to go off campus because they grew up in the sheltered, homogeneous environments, while others were active volunteers in the New Haven community. It was emotionally difficult for me to that kind of tension in the air experience. So I made an attempt at some New Haven residents know and trust and respect to earn.
